En un mundo donde la injusticia y el abuso pueden aparecer en cualquier lugar — en la escuela, en el trabajo o incluso en nuestra comunidad — permanecer en silencio a menudo nos hace cómplices. Esta reflexión explora por qué es importante alzar la voz, especialmente por los más vulnerables.

This quote is absolutely true. As social beings, we have the obligation and responsibility to stand not only for our own rights, but also for the rights of others — especially the most vulnerable, like children. When we see suffering, mistreatment, or abuse, we need to stand up and say “Stop.”
If we remain silent, we become part of the problem — part of the oppressor, the bully, the abusive behavior we claim to reject.
Abuse can take many forms. We see it at school, when a bully mistreats a classmate with words or actions. We see it at work, when a boss abuses their power to belittle or control others. Every person deserves respect — it’s a basic human right.
Standing against mistreatment doesn’t mean agreeing with everything others say or do; it means recognizing every human being’s dignity and asking for the same respect in return.
We must teach children to recognize injustice and to speak up when they see someone being hurt. Saying “Stop” can make a difference.
Sometimes the line between right and wrong feels blurry, distorted by fear or misinformation. Sometimes people stay silent, hoping to stay safe, unnoticed, or on the “winning” side — the side of those with power. But eventually, injustice reaches us or someone we love.
And when that happens, if everyone has chosen silence, who will speak up?

Esta cita es absolutamente cierta. Como seres sociales, tenemos la obligación y la responsabilidad de defender no solo nuestros propios derechos, sino también los derechos de los demás — especialmente los más vulnerables, como los niños. Cuando vemos sufrimiento, maltrato o abuso, debemos levantarnos y decir “¡Alto!”
Si permanecemos en silencio, nos convertimos en parte del problema — parte del opresor, del acosador, del comportamiento abusivo que decimos rechazar.
El abuso puede tomar muchas formas. Lo vemos en la escuela, cuando un compañero maltrata a otro con palabras o acciones. Lo vemos en el trabajo, cuando un jefe abusa de su poder para menospreciar o controlar a otros. Toda persona merece respeto — es un derecho humano básico.
Oponerse al maltrato no significa estar de acuerdo con todo lo que otros dicen o hacen; significa reconocer la dignidad de cada ser humano y pedir el mismo respeto a cambio.
Debemos enseñar a los niños a reconocer la injusticia y a alzar la voz cuando vean que alguien está siendo lastimado. Decir “¡Alto!” puede marcar la diferencia.
A veces, la línea entre lo correcto y lo incorrecto se siente borrosa, distorsionada por el miedo o la desinformación. A veces las personas permanecen en silencio, esperando estar a salvo, sin ser notadas, o del lado de los “ganadores” — del lado de quienes tienen el poder. Pero, tarde o temprano, la injusticia nos alcanza a nosotros o a alguien que amamos.
Y cuando eso sucede, si todos han elegido el silencio, ¿quién hablará?
