​The virus didn’t just disrupt our routines—it turned humanity upside down. It forced us to face something we had hidden for years: our Self. That Self we were taught to protect and nurture as if it were the center of the universe. Yes, it is special. But it is not the only one.
Every Self is part of a greater mechanism. When one disconnects, the whole system weakens. What we are living through is not only a health crisis or a political one. It is a crisis of empathy, of humanity itself.
Intolerance has grown so much that even those who once demanded to be heard and respected now refuse to listen or respect others. Extremes are colliding, and in that friction, confusion, fear, and aggression arise. Economic, political, and religious groups fight over “the truth,” manipulating with fear and twisting principles that should unite us.
From ancient China, Confucius left us an ethical guide that remains relevant today:
“Do not do to others what you do not want done to yourself.”
For him, social harmony began in the heart of each individual. Virtue, respect, righteousness, and compassion were the pillars of a just life.
Centuries later, Jesus of Nazareth taught us to love without conditions:“Love one another as I have loved you.”
His message was neither selective nor exclusive. He invited us to see our neighbour as part of ourselves, to build community through love and empathy. He reminded us that true power lies in service, forgiveness, and humility.
Yet today, we have forgotten these teachings. We fall into manipulation disguised as truth, fed by fear, that divides instead of unites.
I refuse to believe that my well-being depends on another’s misfortune.
I refuse to justify violence in the name of faith, democracy, or progress.
I refuse to be complicit in a new form of slavery disguised as modernity.
And this is not exclusive to one country. Not only Peru. It is a global phenomenon: a crude copy of a model that oppresses, divides, and exploits, with many faces and forms.
Is there hope? Only if we stop acting like vengeful gods, like self-appointed judges, like owners of the law. Only if we start seeing our neighbor with respect and empathy—without filters, without masks, without prejudice.
When we stop dividing and begin multiplying.
When we see others as human beings with dreams, rights, and responsibilities.
When we understand that rights walk hand in hand with duties, and both belong to the collective of many Selves.
If we fail to grasp this, there will be no salvation.
But if one day we do, there will be hope.
That day, perhaps, we will save our world.
And maybe—at last—we will look at each other with humanity.

​El virus no solo alteró nuestras rutinas: volteó a la humanidad patas arriba. Nos obligó a mirar de frente aquello que habíamos escondido durante años: nuestro Yo. Ese Yo que nos enseñaron a cuidar como si fuera el centro del universo. Sí, es especial. Pero no es el único.
Cada Yo forma parte de un engranaje mayor. Cuando uno se desconecta, todo el sistema se resiente. Lo que hoy vivimos no es únicamente una crisis sanitaria o política: es una crisis de empatía y de humanidad.
La intolerancia crece. Quienes ayer pedían respeto, hoy se niegan a escucharlo. Los extremos se tocan, y en ese roce nacen miedo, confusión y violencia. Grupos económicos, políticos y religiosos disputan “la verdad”, manipulando con miedo y dividiendo en lugar de unir.
Desde la antigua China, Confucio nos dejó una guía ética que sigue vigente:
“No hagas a otros lo que no quieres que te hagan a ti.”
Para él, la armonía social comenzaba en el corazón de cada individuo. La virtud, el respeto y la compasión eran pilares de la justicia.
Siglos después, Jesús de Nazaret nos enseñó a amar sin condiciones:
“Ámense los unos a los otros como yo los he amado.”
Su mensaje fue inclusivo, un llamado a construir comunidad desde el amor, el perdón y la humildad.
Hoy, hemos olvidado estas enseñanzas. Caemos en una manipulación disfrazada de verdad, alimentada por el miedo. Nos quieren hacer creer que nuestro bienestar depende de la desgracia ajena. Yo me rehúso a aceptar esa lógica.
​ Me rehúso a justificar la violencia en nombre de la fe, la democracia o el progreso.
Y esto no es exclusivo de un país. Es un fenómeno global: una copia burda de un modelo que oprime, divide y explota en distintas formas y con distintos rostros.
¿Hay esperanza? Sí, si dejamos de actuar como jueces y aprendemos a mirarnos como iguales. Si vemos al otro como un ser humano con sueños, derechos y deberes. Los derechos van de la mano con las obligaciones, y ambos pertenecen al colectivo. Sin esa conciencia, no habrá salvación.
El día en que dejemos de dividir y empecemos a multiplicar, habrá esperanza.
El día en que volvamos a ver al otro sin prejuicios ni filtros, habrá esperanza.
Ese día, tal vez salvemos nuestro mundo.
Y quizás, por fin, volvamos a mirarnos con humanidad.
