Z N rated it 5 stars. it was amazing "What a great story! I loved it from the bright and beautiful cover and illustrations through to the fun, well-written and interactive story it is. The character of Lou is Lovable too. The animal friends show kindness and support towards him but when he discovers what happens to his mane, his reaction is a beautiful example to share with all children . A great book to teach kindness and compassion with. Highly recommended for children aged 3 to 7. Such a lovely book!"
Who is Lou? Lou is a strong, healthy, fearless, and friendly young Lion who lives in the Savannah jungle. Everybody in the jungle loves and respects him.
Lou has the loudest roar that you have ever heard. With vivacious rounded, big orangey-brown eyes with big round pupils. His mane is the most notorious part of his body; it is a blend of golden yellow and orange, bushy, thick and shiny. He loves it and is proud of it. Even though he is fearless, Lou has a “secret” he is afraid of going bald. One day his worst nightmare came true; he woke up and noticed something strange, his mane was gone. Oh no! Who took it? What can he do? Who can help him find his mane? Did he find support? Join Lou in his quest. Lou and his Mane at Amazon.

The source of inspiration behind my first book is my kids and my daycare kids. They are also why I decided to write “Lou and his mane." Since I can remember, I have made stories on the spot to make since easier for them to understand a concept or idea. When the pandemic started, I decided to be proactive and do something that reminds us of kindness, friendship, love, forgiveness, and facing fears. Lou and his mane brought those feelings that we must reinforce more than ever.
Is so rewarding to see these kind of reviews, because it encourage me to continue with stories that teach social and emotional values to young children.
Empathy is the ability to sense other people's emotions, understand their feelings. Nowadays is more important than ever to nurture empathy in young children. Some of the things that parents and teachers can do if first of all remember thar we are role models, we are our children's example; we need to talk with them about others' feelings, acknowledge his or her own feelings, read stories about feelings and emotions, recreate those stories, ask children question about the different characters.
One of the most treasured memories of my childhood is my great-grandmother and her extraordinary way of making stories. I remember that we all sat on the floor in front of her very quietly for a very long time, because we did not want to miss any detail of her tale. Her stories transported us to the world of the imagination. That mysterious and wonderful world she was creating for us. All those wonders, all the trips she built for us with her stories, make me realize how lucky I am to have had such an extraordinary example of creativity. She made me as an adult, value more the importance of promoting in young children the wonder that only the books and a story well told can bring to them.
