A BRIEF COMMENT
This book serves as a heartfelt tribute to the memory of a remarkable Canadian physicist named Ken, and his equally remarkable wife, Louise. They not only opened their home to my family but also shared a deep affection for penguins, amassing a diverse collection of these charming creatures in various sizes and materials over the years.
Nearly two decades ago, Ken and Louise gifted me a penguin plush that I named "Kenny" when I had just embarked on my journey as a daycare provider in Canada. Hence the book’s name.
We often find ourselves engaged in competition, sometimes relentlessly, with others. But, akin to the lessons learned from Kenny and Tommy, we should recognize that the true competition lies within ourselves. While it is natural to look to others as benchmarks, our ultimate quest should be self-improvement. However, what does improvement truly entail? Is it about outperforming others? And if so, in what manner? The truth is that everyone holds a unique place in this world, contributing their significance in their own way.
The family that inspired this narrative exemplifies the qualities of a brilliant yet humble, generous, and kind-hearted man, ken. Their story reminds us that our true competition should be for a better world – a world where self-improvement coexists harmoniously with empathy and compassion, without causing harm to others and that is a message that I would like to give to all the children and adults as well.

Kenny is a curious penguin who loves to spend his time building and creating a lot of different objects, one day he woke up with a brilliant idea for the science competition he wants to build a Spaceship. Not only does Kenny want to win the contest, but most importantly he wants to be the first penguin to go to space! Kenny with the help of his best friend Louise works hard on building the vessel.
However, when the time comes for him to present his project, it inexplicably fails, the crowd is disappointed when the engine falls apart in front of them. Will Kenny and Louise find out what went wrong? Will he repair the spaceship and fulfill his dream? Reviewed in Canada on January 2, 2023This is a story about Kenny making a spaceship for his science contest, but then Tommy steals some screws on the spaceship to win the contest. Tommy eventually realizes the meaning of winning and gives the screws back to Kenny. If your child likes science, building, and spaceship, they will like the book! Friendship and sportsmanship are also touched on in this story too. A nice read!
