Excited by his discovery, Yuri begins collecting small creatures to put inside the box: a red crab, a frog, and even an amazing butterfly. But when he tries to catch the butterfly, Yuri falls into a trap and ends up hanging by his foot! His cries attract a little girl, who comes to his rescue. Through this adventure, Yuri learns an important lesson about respecting others, no matter how big or small, and understanding the consequences of taking without asking. What Makes This Book Special?
Yuri is the first character I created inspired by my native Peru. With this book, my goal was twofold: to highlight the importance of empathy as a universal value and to spark children’s interest in the Amazon and its natural wonders. Although environmental issues are not addressed directly, they form the backdrop, guiding children’s curiosity toward knowledge and respect for the world around them. As with all my stories, I aim to encourage active participation, inviting children to think, ask questions, and share.”

This story is brightly illustrated and will really engage young children. It also has an important lesson in empathy, something we all need more of in this world. A great choice for parents and teachers to share with young children.
